From The Ashes

embers still smoldering
as flakes of me blow in the breeze
a pile of charred and burnt parts
left to bake into nothingness
yet
i will not die

fluid was dribbled on
to keep the blaze high
scorching my remains
withering my resolve
yet
i will not die

poked with prod
the flame stayed stoked
allowing more oxygen
for the fire to expand
yet
i will not die

the heat will slowly fade
the coal will eventually cool
the fluid will evaporate
the ash will settle in place

i did not die
yet
soon
i will arise
