From The Desert We Came (2010)

I watched churches fall
Some leaders came from the Ammonites.
They scattered the flock
And the children of light hid
Ourselves away

But among the Ammonites
Were Levi, Benjamin, and Judah
Among those exiled faithful of Heaven
And we were silent

When we could remain silent no more
The dam broke and flooded over us
We were full of pain for our exile
And washed clean by Forgiveness

Because of our pain, we were tested by fire
As the Refiner burned our anger away
As those of us with incomplete memories
Recalled our lives, the wolves cried out
'Give up; No one likes you.'

Our tears brought on rains that didn't stop
But in our torment, came Love
In the light with no known source
Which people called us crazy for
Believing in.

The shadows fled the Light
As Heaven revealed in innocense
Had no knowledge of the thoughts
As dark vies for the believers
Taking advantage of our goodness
Until we cry: Enough!

Bryon is of the Light
My Godfather is with him
Riley Burke remained in the dark
With me and fought off the darkness
As I called to him in song: Baby Mine

But the Light I love
Is God in the ones that love
And though Heaven and Hell
Have tried to claim me
The Book of Life records my name

The Last will be First
And the first of the Light
Is where we belong
With those who love
For eternity

From the desert we came
And to the Light we remain
As we are to be found
In God's Book of Life
Two families united because
Of a teenager's courage
