From The Shadows
See his lonely soul, lives life dark awhile
by Michael Hylton
As he steps, in and out of the shadows
If such, as his face, would embrace a smile
Could his heart, be released from the gallows?
Yet he stands right there, at the bones and peers
At dead skeletons; dried to their marrows.
As he is not prepared, to climb up the stairs
And fight his fears, with his bows and arrows
At the top; he stares at the light that glares
Through the window; there's the songs of sparrows
In the murky swamps, he has lived for years
Though he wants, to escape from the shallows.
Each step could take him; a nautical mile
To rivers in the wild; from the shadows.
