Gamble

Poem By Michael J. Burt

i'm taking a gamble,
letting you into my experiences
letting you into my deep thoughts
letting you into my heart

yes, i'm taking a gamble,
you can respect my words
but hate my message
you can smile in my face
but hate this person
it's always going to be this way
tomorrow, next week, and for the next
twenty years,

but i'm taking a gamble
you can take it for what it's worth
hate it for what it is
love it from what you've taken from it
but i'm taking a gamble,
because i love this.

This Kiss

this kiss wasn’t just a kiss
this kiss was the demise of eternal bliss
this kiss wasn’t just a second of meaningless feelings
this kiss was the end of priceless beginnings

Anniversary

more than once a year
more than a day of love
more than just a morning kiss,
is our love

just all of the above

to the words of her songs

Choices

my justification for my actions is simple,
i went with my heart, never second-guessing myself

Deep From Within

Knots fill their stomachs as their senses shut down
They can’t sleep or eat or see or even speak
at night or in the morning
or even during the day
