Girls Of My Boyhood

The girls of my boyhood in my thoughts remain
And in my flights of fancy i see them again
Walking in the town with the wind in their hair
In the bloom of youth and unburdened by care
And in my memory they have not aged a day
As fair and as fresh as the wildflowers of May
And though nothing in life as unchanged ever stay
I cannot imagine them as ageing and gray,
Any of the girls of my boyhood for years I've not seen
But in my memory they remain as sixteen
They remain as young when them i visualize
Though them today perhaps i would not recognize
And i hear them laughing in the wind and the rain
As they walk on the streets of the old town again.
