Grandma

IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY
WHEN I HEARD YOU SAY,
IT WAS TIME FOR YOU TO GO
AND THAT YOU LOVED ME SO.

I SAT DOWN BY YOUR SIDE,
HELD YOUR HAND AND CRIED.
YOU LOOKED ME IN THE EYE AND SAID
TEARS FOR ME DO NOT SHED.

HONEY DON’T YOU CRY,
WE ALL HAVE TO DIE.
WHEN YOU NEED ME I’LL BE BY YOUR SIDE
ON ME YOU CAN RELY.

JUST LOOK DEEP DOWN INSIDE
AND PUT YOUR TEARS ASIDE
AND THAT’S WHEN YOU’LL SEE
YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE ME.

I WILL BE IN YOUR HEART.
NOW IT’S TIME FROM THIS WORLD FOR ME TO PART.
YOU LOOKED TOWARDS THE SKIES
THEN YOU CLOSED YOUR EYES.

YOU ESCAPED AWAY TO THE PROMISED LAND
I HELD TIGHT TO YOUR SWEET HAND.
AS THE TEARS BEGAN TO FALL LIKE THE RAIN,
I TRIED TO HIDE MY PAIN.

I BOWED MY HEAD AND TALKED TO THE LORD.
MY HEART I OUT POURED.
WHY DID GRANDMA HAVE TO GO SO SOON
SHE WAS MY EARTH, STARS AND MOON.

I WISH I COULD SEE HER SMILE
AND TALK TO HER AGAIN FOR AWHILE.
THEN A SOFT WHISPER CAME TO ME
AND SAID; I’M FINALLY FREE.

HONEY DON’T YOU CRY,
WE ALL HAVE TO DIE.
WHEN YOU NEED ME I’LL BE BY YOUR SIDE
ON ME YOU CAN RELY.

JUST LOOK DEEP DOWN INSIDE
AND PUT YOUR TEARS ASIDE.
AND THAT’S WHEN YOU’LL SEE
YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE ME.

I WILL BE IN YOUR HEART
FROM YOU I WILL NEVER PART.
