Guess

pages flying through the air
everywhere
records of our love and war
can’t seem to shake it
can’t seem to make it go away
the feeling I have hated before
I am crawling
falling
down to my knees
thoughts of smiling
single-filing
as my word echoes...please

and I feel weightless
fate-less
as I lie here alone
I know I’m failing
bailing
on the final show
leave me, cruel desire
fire
in my chest
how can I make this better
forever
make your guess

still my lesson’s less than learned
burned
my life is upside down
I can’t stand it
can’t handle it
please don’t turn around
a hundred shades of twilight
my light
and it’s fading fast
ideas shifting
drifting
I wish each tear was my last

sheet music in cold weather
letters
in the wind
memories come rushing
crushing
paper-thin
never knowing
going
silent as it gets
how can I make this go on
so long
make your guess

and there are people talking
walking
in invisible snow
they’re wishing for opportunities
unities
and just somewhere to go
breathing in the holidays
happy days
imagined and nothing more
opening presents and basking
asking
what are you thankful for

now I write the final page
and leave the stage
but why should I be scared
I’ll let this ink run
let it be done
with the moments that we shared
I got one last look
and took
the things that I like best
will I stand in the rain and cry
or fly
make your guess.

This poem almost seems to come with music. It reads like a song.
