Had A Son
I didn't care about the doe or the fawn
Or about a wife or a child until I had one,
I hunted and I killed without any thought or care
And as for children, I was never there.
They say that a child is a gift from God
To that saying I will now give a proud, boastful nod,
For my son I will do and give all that I can
As to help him on his way on becoming a better man.
In the Old Testament God was vengeful in those early days
Do what he said, and always give him his praise,
Parents and children suffered and died in his name
Those tears and broken hearts, brought us all shame.
I wonder why God was so angry after he created the earth
Then his thoughts all changed after Mary gave birth,
It's easy being a parent, if in children you have none
But, then God had himself a son.
