Hard Night After Hard Day

I’m tired of life,
with it’s twists and turns.
I’m tired of feelings,
that ache and burn.
I’m tired of change,
unexpected and unwanted.
I’m tired of struggle,
so vain and unproductive.

I’m weary of thoughts,
that fog and tangle.
I’m weary of burdens,
only shadows and mist.
I’m weary of weakness,
ever present, ever stinging.
I’m weary of worry,
so pointless, so unneeded.

I greatly need rest,
so peaceful and so calm.
I greatly need focus,
an even better balm.
I greatly need hope,
dawn for mental night.
I greatly need You,
my strength, shield and light.
