He Keeps On Keeping On
The years are creeping up on him he has turned ninety three
And though he has seen many Seasons he's still a better man than me
He says one never is too old for to partake in cheer
And with the young blokes at the pub he laughs as he drinks his beer.
Fifteen times a great grand-father his wife is dead for twenty years
She was a woman as he says worthy of a man's tears
But he gets on with living life and though his better days long gone
Until his very final day he will keep on keeping on.
In his prime in the nineteen thirties many decades ago
All of his class mates of his school going days by the reaper's scythe laid low
But his philosophy of life is live for as long as you can
Of little use to anyone is the dead woman or man.
A happy go lucky sort of a bloke in life he has made many a friend
And in life he will keep on keeping on right 'til his very end
The most popular one in the local pub where he is loved by all
And to the reaper's deadly scythe he is not yet ripe to fall.
