Heartstring

A heartstring connects
me and you,
you try to split it
in two

I hold your hand,
because I'm scared

The heartstring slowly
breaks in two.

Don't let go
We can fix it,
with some tape
and a few dabs of glue.

We can tie it back together,
It'll look better than new.

Promise, I can fix it.
My hand loses grip of yours

Broken hearstring, broken heart
tears prickle at my eyes,
It's time to stop pretending,
time to grow up.
