Poem By Tanist Denise Bolden

Standing barefoot on a summer day
The small of fresh plowed earth
beneath my feet
Heat waves warm my blood
ancestral linkage to hard days
gone by
A firm grip on the plow
Ancestral gift of pride and strength.

Faith is believing in something

Reservoir

Icicles on my window pain
Smoke from a nearly chimney
Both restating the same
Warmth and desolation

Purpose

Sometimes I think it is defeat
The status quo maintained
I look again
The untied lace
