Holiday Smash 'N Crash

Yuletide is over
A new year has begun
Quick here comes Valentine's Day
Chocolate candies flowers hurry
Done with Valentine's, on to mardi gras
Quick, to spring equinox,
To Easter, Passover, Mother's Day, Shavuot
President's day all the famous birthdays
Through the golden summer months
Slip to Rosh Hashanah Yom Kippur and Sukkot
Melt into Halloween
Costumes candy houses haunted
Blends into Thanksgiving, Ramadan
Slides into Hannukah, Kwanzaa and Christmas
And around again and around
Like paint in a washing machine,
Blending mixing no discernible beginning or end
Holidays smashing, crashing, bumping
Intruding on one another
Once upon a time there was a place for everything
Each holiday had a schedule
With the hunt, the harvest,
The changing of the seasons
Now they mix and match and tumble swirl
A holiday bumper car fun
Crashing into each other
More money, piles growing more and more
Only for gifts and decoration
Once it was fun
Just to dance and sing and celebrate
Now corporate money bags say
Spend! Spend! Spend!
A Holiday Smash 'N Crash
