I Am The Way

Poem By amikkwe Garrison

Salvation is free to all who believe
His forgiveness is great
He came to save even me

He loved us so much
With compassion and grace
people were healed by his touch

The blind would see
The lame would walk
And sins were forgiven to set us free

But then came the last meal
Then the lash of the whip
So that by his stripes we are healed

They put a crown upon his head
And they laughed at him
Even those he had fed

Peter denied him threetimes, just as he said
They all forgot who he was
And some wanted him dead

Then they put him on the cross
Still he forgave them
But they were lost

He looked down and began to pray
With tears of compassion
Forgive them Father, for I am the way
