I Could Dissolve Myself
O! God; the world is a riddle,
by Shahida Latif
Where fate does play and fiddle.
Would that I could find a friend,
To whom I could my heart lend,
Share his pang, his pleasure,
His fear, in exchange of treasure
Of love, smiles, scent and perfume,
And in return I would consume,
Like a burning candle my existence,
Dissolve myself despite persistence,
Of the sweet tongue to alive remain,
For love, the world I would disdain.
