I Found A Key

Poem By Linda Harnett

I found a key,
To turn a lock,
That held a heart,
Secure,
At first I hesitated,
Held back,
Till,
I was sure.

I turned the key,
A little bit,
It felt a little,
Slack,
A little scared,
The heart within,
Could never,
Love me back.

The key was with me,
For a while,
Held it time, and,
Time again,
And the more,
That I held on to it,
The more it caused,
Me pain.

I held the key,
Within my hand,
And thought,
It’s now or never,
I realised,
The heart within,
Belonged to me,
Forever.

Somewhere

Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
Somewhere,
With sand in my toes,

Today, I Lit A Candle

Today I lit a candle,
In memory of you,
A very special tribute,
A flame of gold and blue.

Autumn Leaves

The autumn leaves,
Abandoned tree,
The red and yellow,
Now are free,

Hush Now, Child

Hush now child,
No need to say goodbye,
No winter song,
No gentle lullaby,

I'M Going Now

I’m going now,
Just moving on,
Perhaps you’ll miss me,
When I’m gone,

Puppy Love

I had a little puppy,
It piddled on the floor,
And every time I mopped it up,
It piddled even more.
