I Keep Telling Myself

I keep telling myself
That things will change
New ideas will rise for us to rearrange
Chaos will bury itself in red tape
Reform won’t have a way to escape
I keep telling myself
Poverty is just an abortion
Wealth will be spread out in equal portion
Bureaucracy will open its cathedral heart
Having misplaced its only working part
I keep telling myself
One day there will be detoxification of all lies
With a prism view of all truths we will compromise
Reason will rise against treason
And autumn will still be the prettiest season
I keep telling myself
One day we will all get up and dance
One eye askance, the other seeking romance
Get rid of any burdens we have to unload
And we will all skip down the yellow brick road
I keep telling myself
Love will find a resting place
Inner beauty will win its race
Passion will sprout a new flower
With lots of soul searching for a happy hour
I keep telling myself
