I Listen

I listen to god; I listen to the rain,
I listen to my heart when it feels pain.
The tears of god, the tears of the sun,
It beats down on my soul and makes me want to run.
I hear the slaves and their fire burning in their eyes.
They still don’t scream when their whipped till they die.
I listen to my little brother as he sleeps at night,
I hear his thoughts and dreams at night.
I hold his sorrow and tell him everything will be alright,
as he slowly falls asleep at night.
When I listen I hear the good and bad,
I hear peoples love and their deep depression when thery’re sad.
I can’t do anything but listen to the world’s pain
It follows me everywhere I go as I listen to the rain.
