I'M Not Long For This World.

I'm not long for this world.
My feet ache from all the miles they've walked.
My mouth is sore as all this time I've talked.
My ears bleed because they can no longer hear.
My fingers are thin and are brittle I fear.
My thoughts they are not my own anymore.
My memories are there, but they are mostly forlorn.
Yes, I'm not long for this world.

I'm not long for this world.
I've seen too much suffering for one soul to bear.
I've felt so much pain that I no longer care.
I've been hurt deep inside with things harsher than pain.
I've been burned and bruised and left out in the rain.
I've sold stories and lines to cover the truth.
I've told fibs and lies and blamed it on youth.
No, I'm not long for this world.

I'm not long for this world.
I can't run the way my feet used to take me.
I can't jump the heights my legs used to spring me.
I won't try these new things, no I can't be bothered.
I won't learn these new words, I can't unlearn the others.
I see only what I want to see and when I want to see it.
I feel terrible random things and I don't understand it.
...
I'm not long for this world.

I'm not long for this world.
I ride my rhymes to places of the past.
There I sing my songs and remember old laughs.
In these dreams I feel alive and well.
The outside world unfamiliar as hell.
I see only what I want to see and when I want to see it.
But I feel terrible random things and I don't understand it.
No, I'm not long for this world.
