I Need Love

Poem By Ann Murrell

What the sun is to the flower,
nurturing it to grow,
What rain does for new grass seed,
with its warm persistent flow,
The way the early signs of springtime
awaken dormant plants,
and the seasons first warblers
sing out their rhythmic chants,
So too, poignant feelings stir
like a caged wild dove inside my heart and body, crying out for love.

I reached out to touch you with words soft and entreating,
So close I felt that you could hear how fast my heart was beating.
The setting sun had rendez vous with twilights early gleam and slowly
intermingled to form a golden beam that shone warm through the window, clothing
