I Stood There Waiting

Poem By Parameswaran K V

I stood there waiting
for a gap in the traffic
to cross the highway.

Lives rushed on throbbing
from the hoary past,
through looming future,
to unknown destinies, far away.

Till their steps staggered,
raised hands groped in the void
to help the collapse on the tarmac.

Ages passed to centuries,
years, days and moments
while I stood.

Silent and obscure,
Creeping under the bush,
Gathering force,

Blessed Are We

Blessed are we
That we are not
Among those tossing in the sea
In little dinghies

He was handsome,
bowing under the weight of the cross,
bleeding from the flagellations,
yet pained at the thought

I Was Not There

I was not there
when the lilacs bloomed
wriggling in the slime
feeding them with the goodness of the earth.

An Endless Journey
