I walked along the golden shore,
by Linda Harnett
The sun shone brightly as before,
My problems all but left behind,
The sea has calmed my troubled mind.
No sign of strife or daily hassle,
I watch some children build a castle,
While others paddle in the sea,
I wonder what became of me.
I was that child so long ago,
Running fast and walking slow,
The future was eternity,
And never had I been so free.
Now shackled by the ties that bind,
And sad to leave that child behind,
My new horizon beckons me,
I guess that what will be, will be.
