I Was Born The Day The Sun Did Not Shine

I was born the day the sun did not shine,
Darkness foreshadowed illness,
Blood made it true.

I was born the day the sun did not shine,
There were flowers of pity,
Hand trembling prayer.

I was born the day the sun did not shine,
Tears flowed through streets,
Glass shattering screams.

I was born the day the sun did not shine,
The day i was told the world had fallen,
The day families died.

Two planes crashed into buildings,
The sky was ablaze with hatred,
Ashes showered the earth.

And my mother held me,
Tighter into her bosom,
Promising never her child,
Never her child.

Indeed, a well written poem... strong and hard-hitting.... takes the message all accross..... Bless you, Shivangi! ..... I would love to read more of those gems thats in your treasury. A complete rank - 10, undoubtedly!
A very strong poem Shivangi. Do not worry Sun sometimes moody. Moon knows better than us. That's why she comes after sundown.
This was a deeply touching poem. It is very well written.
This poem makes a powerful statement. The mood is haunting. The message timely. The title supports the dark mood that is expressed so well here. Regards, Sandra Fowler
