I Went For A Walk On The Woodland Pathway

I went for a walk on the woodland pathway
The birds chirped and sang on a mild Summer day
Yet one bird by it's call I did not seem to know
My wonder of Nature only seems to grow
Quite high on a tree it I could not view
When I say I know little of Nature I'm not saying anything new
The magpie and shrike thrush and blackbird I knew by their song
By their voices these birds anyone don't get wrong
But the voice of one bird seemed a mystery to me
Hidden from my view high on a wattle tree
I learned once again from Mother Nature today
That I am her pupil and as such I will stay
Till she sends her Reaper to claim the life from me
Where-ever or when-ever that's going to be.
