I Wll Never Be Young Again
SF (June 17 1942 / Troy New York)

I Wll Never Be Young Again

I will never be young again
I must learn to accept this
It is pointless to dream of certain things
Ever again
Dreaming can only bring disappointment
I must lower expectations all around
Small pleasures can still be had
But there is no great love or work
Ever to be dreamed again
I am a little old man
Who looks worse than he ever thought he would
Who has more aches and pains
Than he ever imagined
And less stamina
Who is more tired more easily
I just must accept all this

And let all the inner anger and frustration and disappointment
Somehow pretend it does not exist.
