If Loving You Were Easy

If loving you were easy
I'd love you like I should.
I've opened up my heart to you
and tried as best I could.
I don't expect reassurance.
I know some think I'm cold.
I needed your love when I was young.
But now I'm just too old.
I've lived without your guidance.
I've lived without your hugs.
I'm sure you don't remember
a time without your drugs.
You chose the life you're living.
I wished you all the best.
Now it's time to say goodbye
and lay this thing to rest.
If loving you were easy,
I'd love you like I should.
I've opened up my heart to you
and tried as best I could.

Mary-This is really great...strong writing and what a powerful delivery aslso...well done!
Mary, this is a lovely, heart-felt poem. I hope it is a 'moving on' poem for you. Sometimes that's all we can do...and forgiveness follows as a wonderful, surprising gift. Raynette
This is a step of forgiving....I was so much touched by this poem
This poem is so powerful with simple words. It reachs out to the emotions and frustrations we all feel.
