If Only Houses Could Talk

If the house is the holder of human behaviour
what happens when the inhabitants move on.
Do our actions seep into brick and mortar
cementing themselves within the whispering walls.
Secret pleasures perfected behind closed doors
unmentioned regrets replayed in empty beds.
Or do they flee from their prison once their creators
have dispersed, finding peace in space-
sharing tales about the tragic comedy of man.

Now if they were ghosts Vincent, they tend to stay, don't they? I'm sure some 'spirits' haunt some houses from past times, expecially if they had a gruesome end. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem. Clever thought provoking write. Love Ernestine XXX
