Impressions I

Poem By Mohamed Eid

Why, do you think
The moon was up on high last night

And the clouds covered it for a while
Then released its light; lightly and gently

Like my unnoticeable smile to your face
And your being to everything else

How did the clouds
Revolve around the moon so beautifully

That you had to comment times about it
And how did you comment? And insist

That everyone must turn and see it;
Like a misty flower to the sea at dawn!

How, did you search
For the moon’s face; and I did too,

And thought it looked sad all the time
But didn’t want to say so, for fear of
Giving you a wrong impression of myself!

Women

Women come and women go

And what is left is our yearning

Eyes

Your eyes, they rove

In every stranger's face

Shrouded

A shroud is wrapped around a rose

Forsaken beauty is concealed

Departure

My love for you is an ocean of purity

And the tides they carry our kisses to the shore

Bound

I am bound for the sea; your heart in my heart
An ambassador from the garden
