Impressions Of Midnight

Poem By Lori Boulard

The moon glows shamelessly, flashing my past in neon
yet reminding me that eternity remains

The staccato gossip of crickets lulls me down trancelike
and I hesitate to close the window completely

Your skin like satin evokes my anger towards winter
and the jealousy of flannel pajamas that will conceal you

Silence almost deafening brings our focus into the room
raising the voices of our hearts as we lie together

It is not yet midnight
and still the night looks promising

Another good impression of a night time scene where interior thoughts merge with vivid description.
Lori...I love this, and it's in couplets, my favorite pattern. It's nice to read a love poem that isn't mushy. Starting every line with a capital letter is very formal, so I would expect punctuation. Great stuff. I think poetry is often in the things in a poem, and the 'flannel pajamas' make it very real and poetic. John
