In A Dentist's Waiting Room

Heart beats faster and faster,
Imagination runs riot
Anticipating horrendous hurt.
Nerves scream, shoulders tense,
Funny how the tooth hurts less!
Sit still, brave it out,
New technology has more clout.
Slow the breath,
Imagine serene waves
Lapping gently on silver sand,
Sun gently warming.
There now that's not so bad,
Best check up I've ever had.

Delightful, Edith. My son's always been like this regarding dentists, and he'; s now 26!
