In Bondage Of Biblical Idols

Caught in dual lies a couple struggle
To think outside the child of Eden
To taste the twin fruit of good and evil
To gain knowledge not by obedience
Not by fear of some sacred death omen
But, daring to differ, daring to break
Slave chains shackled by the gods, they step
Into the mysterious unknown boldly
Discovering. Outwitted, damage control
Beckons and the gods preserve the secret
Of immortality with a coil
Of curses thrown in for good measure.
Paying a pretty price for helping humans
And limbless now, snake subtle as jealousy
Crawls out of paradise heroically.

Then Elohim slings a spoke into Yahweh's
Wheel spins a different creation yarn
And two strands lock horns in a Tug-of-war
Tussle for praise, glory and exaltation
A sort of 'Mr. Spiritual Cosmos'
Contest for who is greater.

Staunch as stanchion stands Yahweh's servants,
Oppose to science with heads buried like moles
In flat earth with dome hats worn for safety
Deflecting facts and truth to a distant desert.
Evolution outlawed, creative thought
And critical reason is stifled -
Censorship waves a red flag
To reflective thinking and selective
Programmes of education are Manna
Chewed and digested feeding the
'Immutable faith' forcibly.

Yahweh man-of-war spreads deadly tentacles
Throttling Amalekites men, women, infants
And cattle in delight -
No stranger to the gory Yahweh
Advocates dashing babies heads against rocks
Generate happiness. By mere command,
Sun pulls a muscle on track,
Stops for Joshua to slaughter Amorites.
Yahweh dictates destruction of Midianites,
But angered by women spared
Moses slaughters all male children -
In Kemet households, Yahweh slays the first
Born male and like general Mladic toasting
Genocidal 'victory', rejoices over
Egyptians drowning in the Red Sea.

Who is this Yahweh?
Why so ruthless and savage
So domineering and psychopathic
So violent and intolerant
Slaughtering whole peoples?
Is this 'Abba Father' the God of mercy
Who loves the world so much?
Sweet Jesus, Prince of Peace,
Please tell me it isn't so.
But somewhere in the Divine Assembly
Among the pantheon of gods sits Yahweh
A son of El Elyon, God Most High
And standing tall El judges
By decree with righteous judgment
Stamping fate and sealing the Royal Fall.
