In The Early Hours

Poem By J. James Martinez

In the early hours
Of
A new day
Smeared
Across the final moments
Of a blurred yesterday
I write to you
Wherever you lay
In whomever’s arms
Waiting for this (you) to end
I seem to have not yet
Grown tired
Of wasting breath
Life
On you

Go
Unknowing
Finish the day with your head
Soft skin
Pressed
Secure
In a stranger

In the early hours I write
You

The plight of love you do so well define, in each stop/start line...
