In The Moonlight

Meandering along a
Moonlight carpet,
My eyes cleave through the
Steamy air of Indian summers,
Locking their gaze on the
Silver treasure chest of the sky.

Leafy branchlets brush over
The Midnight canvas -
Dappled shadows across
The newborn Moon;
And cradled in the
Sky's loving arms,
Diana casts her virginal light.

The stars awake,
With successive indolence,
A slow crescendo of light
Through the haze of time.
Nyx drives away her daughters -
Light and Day,
Her cloak of darkness,
Following in her wake.
