In Time

Poem By Heather Darling

Mommy, can I have some ice cream... chocolate with sprinkles and fudge?
Not now, honey, it’s early. You’ve not even had your lunch.
Oh, Papa, can I date now? All the other girls do.
Not yet, my dear, you are still young with growing up to do.

-Father, when will the blood in my veins stop pulsing, “It’s not fair! ”
-Be patient in my timing, child. Have faith and don’t despair.
-Jesus, when will you come for me? I’m frightened and alone.
-I’m with you already, littleone, and have made your heart my home.

You know, husband, my deepest desire is to bear for you a son.
My love, I am happy to hold you with our eyes on the Eternal One.
Children, now your daddy’s dead I feel I should be too.
But Mama, look at your grandchildren. God has much for you to do.
