Inanimate Love

Poem By Lacie Simonds

His eyes are closed, his breathing slow,
I wrap around him, but he doesn't know,
I'm here to comfort him, chase away his fears,
I'm his 'shoulder' to cry on, I wipe away his tears,

I kiss him so softly, he doesn't realize,
I feel his pain directly, when I look into his eyes
I love him more than she does, that much I know is true,
Although he'll never see this, sometimes I want him to,

I protect him from his hurts, and whisper to endear,
I sing him lullabies, that never reach his ear,
He holds me as he cries, when he thinks he's all alone,
I pretend it doesn't hurt me, and breathe in his cologne,

He tells me all his secrets, his hopes and his desires,
He tells me what he hates, he tells me about those liars,
He's all I've ever wanted, he's all I'll ever need,
I'll always be here for him, to protect him from her greed,

I just want to make him happy, whatever it may take,
If I have to be alone, I don't want his heart to ache,
Sometimes he feels so guilty, for letting it all out,
I never reprimand him, for I couldn't live without,

It's no sacrifice for me, for I live to see him smile,
If I thought that it would please him, I'd walk six thousand miles,
But right now he needs me here, to cuddle and to hold,
To wrap close around him, so he doesn't feel so cold,

His eyes are closed, his breathing slow,
I wrap around him, but he doesn't know,
I'm here when he's happy or he's cranky,
I'll always love him, 'cause I'm his blanky...
