Innocent Heart

Innocent heart, what has happened to you?
Alas, what is the cure to this pain?

We are interested, and they are displeased,
Oh Lord, what is this affair?

I too possess a tongue-
just ask me what I want to say.

Though there is none present without you,
then oh God, what is this noise about?

I expected faith from those
who do not even know what faith is.

We are interested, and they are displeased, Oh Lord, what is this affair? .................... nice write
Setting yourself up for a fall when you expect anything from others. But what a lonely life it would be to not have expectations even minimal ones
This is so heartfelt, so true and beautifully written.
I am gathering from the comments that this is a fragment of a larger piece(?) That explains why there is so much unsaid here. I, too, was asking, What is this affair? And from the longer excerpt I gather that this is another probing of purpose amidst the chaos. As long as we exist, we will be asking what is this noise about?
What is this affair? Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
