Isabel

On a cold December day I fetched my baby fair,
three weeks old unseen by me she waited for me there.
Not for me the pain of birth, or the wonder of it all,
but as you lay and looked at me in an instant I did fall,
in love with you my Izzy such big eyes a knowing face,
We must have been together another time another place
And as you've grown more beautiful my heart with pride does swell,
because you see some people say you look like me as well,
I'll borrow lines I read somewhere that fit us both and show we care
I carried you not beneath my heart but my love has no limit,
I carried you not beneath my heart but always always in it.
