It Is Merely A Fact

It is merely a fact and facts never lie
That we are mere mortals just born to die
Some may achieve greatness and their praises we sing
But life for them too is a temporary thing
Some of those I went to school with amongst the dead lay
Whilst the others like me have known a better day
The mirror tells me I'm a gray ageing man
But I want to live for as long as I can
The person with heaps of money never short of a friend
But success and failure all the same at the end
We must live in the now cannot live in the past
And it won't matter to us when we breathe our last
A last night for all and for all a last day
And the Reaper on our lives does have the last say.
