It's Too Late

I would tell you that I loved you if I knew that it would count.
But I know there's nothing I can say, the damage done in great amount.
I'd try to go back and fix these things, try to change your mind.
But I know that it's too late and I've lost a race against time.

I would beg you to listen if I knew it wouldn't be a waste.
But I know there's nothing I can do. My words meaningless, bitter taste.
I'd look back to figure it out, to gather what went wrong.
But I know that it's too late and you'll already be long gone.

I would act like I hate you if I knew that it would feel alright.
But I know there's nothing I can fake, the gushing tears I cannot fight.
I'd try to forget about it, try to push it all aside.
But I know that it's too late and you have stolen my pride.

I would convince you to stay if I knew that it was worth a try.
But I know there's nothing I have to keep you from saying goodbye.
I'd try to move along, try to keep it in line.
But I know that it's too late, a fate unwillingly mine.
