Jack Frost

Crystals weep in ecstasy,
Coveted land is theirs for free,
Mistress’s blanket laid on the floor,
Masters breath blows at the door,
Spreading with the silver light,
Gentle fall blurs passing sight,
Guided by invisible hands
Across the silent night wastelands.
Triumphant expression turns to dismay,
Their domain destroyed by child’s play,
Babbling voices announce as one,
Greet the rising golden sun,
Fraying carpet unravelled in reams,
Holes appear, filled with green,
All their effort washed away
With the dawning of the day.
