John Deere Hay

Poem By Marilyn Lott

While traveling across the country
I saw the most pleasant sights
Fields of fresh baled hay
Made everything seem so right

Wonderful green machines
A dust cloud hovering ‘round
Clattering and clanging
I love that John Deere sound

Old homesteads been around
For fifty years or more
Hard working good people
That never shirked their chores

You can drive for miles and miles
And at this time of year
Enormous round sweet bundles
Almost brings me to tears

Yes, I cannot get enough
Of the farming neighborhoods
In most every state I travel
It’s a sight that looks so good!
