Twas the night before Christmas and all through the land.
People were traveling for the census demands.
You were ordered to travel to the land of your birth.
So we packed up our donkey to travel the earth.
We arrived in my hometown of Bethlehem that night.
The town was so packed, it was a terrible sight.
I knocked on every door that I could.
In hopes of finding lodging, but no one understood.
You see my wife Mary was heavy with child.
And this child would be the one that the wise men beguiled.
The time had arrived for the baby so dear
A stable was the only refuge I feared.
The prophet's foretold that unto us my son was given.
And I knew of his future and how our sins would be forgiven.
Such a huge task to ask of one so small.
But He was the chosen to answer the call.
The blessed event had arrived.
The world as we know it would now be revived.
A star in the heavens appeared on that night.
Shinning down on the stable the brightest of light.
Many came to honor our dear little son.
The wise men you know and the boy with a drum.
They came baring gifts from the largest to small.
The little boy drumming was the most precious of all.
The very first lesson was taught on that night.
It's better to give than receive with delight.
As I sat and I pondered my son's life ahead.
Of all the blessings and stories, even things that I dread.
I'm thankful to God for this one oh so small.
Who will save many lives after hearing His call.
Oh look at the time it's been such a long day.
Happy Christmas to all, this do I pray.
