Poem Hunter
JM ( / U.S.)

I was all of maybe five years old
And everyone was there for me,
Filling up my mind with thoughts
That anything I’d ever do
Would end somehow with great success;
The world was mine and mine alone…
Time churned by as is its duty
Five years lent its way to ten and there I was,
caught halfway between life’s lessons,
thinking all along there was no way
that anything I’d ever done
would somehow seem so wrong…
I was love and love was in me,
Colors, words and life lived through me,
I was everything I ever wanted to become…
But life, as always, ever-changing,
Found a way to keep me guessing,
Pushing me to the ends of self-doubt,
Offering an endless palette,
Yet I couldn’t have them all…
So here I stand, three decades later,
And it seems that time’s stood still;
The kaleidoscope still lies before me,
And I am still entranced…
