Leisler's Bat

Poem By Pete Crowther

It wasn’t so much the rounded ears
That gave the Leisler’s bat such charm
As it hung head down on the outside wall
Of the old church tower, fast asleep.
What caught at the heart was its little feet
And the toes spread out like tiny stars.
