Lenton Sands School – Nottingham – 1948 To 1950
Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet
Memories do ramble in my Mind
Of my early days at school,
The pictures that I can see are the kind,
That I can tell today to you.
My formative years in Nottingham were,
From Birth until almost seven,
And my Infant School continued then
In London until I was eleven.
To Lenton Sands Infants from Four and A Half
Miss Morris was my teacher fair,
I started there just after the Second World War,
When rationing of sweets was still there.
Our Head Teacher often to America went,
To visit her family,
Lollipops and Chewing Gum she brought back
To give to her Students and to me.
At Christmas Time a Party was held,
In the Main Building, in the Big Hall,
We would have jam sandwiches, fairy cakes and tea,
And see a Conjuror amaze us all.
