Letting In The Storms

They come into our lives like the screaming of a storm
The rain and indistinct noise blots out the rest of the view
Perception and sense distorted and anticipating
Not knowing the lightning is watchful, waiting to strike
The tides of the tempest roll back and give a little
An escaped ray of light brings the first deception near
The eye of it reluctantly releases more of truth
Confusion tears us as the next onslaught crashes by
Finally, the drops slow, dwindle, and cease their crusade
Soundlessness seems to be swaying in the soft spring whisper
Mind and reality assert themselves, we stumble on
We brace for the next beguilement to burn our own soul
