Is Today Our Last
by Orlando Edwin
When will it be our time to go
Could it be sometime today or maybe tomorrow?
How often do we stop and think
That any day this body will become extinct
Sometimes we think we are invincible
As if we were meant to live forever, are we unstoppable?
Yet we see others pass away everyday
But we never stop to say.
It will be my time someday
To me every day is a life we live, not knowing if the sun will rise
No matter how much it may have made us cry, all emotions stop when we close our eyes.
When we awake do we give thanks and praise for yet another day or life
Or do we go along just the same living a day with joy sometimes strife
Any day could be your last
Some will hate you some will love you but, these things someday will pass
For our burdens and sorrows our failures and hurts were never meant to last.
We may pass away tomorrow, but what power do we have at all
Some have faith in the resurrection, some have none at all
Someday we will be six feet under, within a casket grave
No respecter to the weak, the old, the scared not even the brave
Should we not smile a bit more, cry a bit less
Someday from this world we will all get our rest
Rest from all the pain and hurt
We lay it down beneath the dirt
But like many who have dreamed before
For many who have hoped before
One day opened shall be that casket door
One day the true faith shall show its substance
And the believers shall rise in joyful abundance
Why worry about the rising of the sun
If you have faith in the Resurrection of the Son
Enjoy your life the best you can
Whilst trying to stay within the Masters Plan
put a smile on someone’s face
Remove all bitterness from your taste
For true happiness in life is for those who know
That whether or not they die today, for them there will always be an everlasting tomorrow
