Life Will Still Taste Sweet

We all dance slower
In the evening’s soft twilight.
We are required as human beings
To gracefully transition ourselves
Into ever-changing realities.

In moments of meditation,
One can see and communicate
With all the people he’s been
Or yet will be:

As I wade in the water
Of my middle years,
I must still reassure my inner child
That his beautiful innocence is protected,
And my inner child reassures
The future old man
That when the days come
When his hands will shake
Drinking a glass of water,
That life will somehow still taste sweet.
