Lingering Traces

Poem By Sean Furlong

Lingering traces in the mind
you miss the kiss and you reminisce
images stowed and easy to find
cured still with salt
and other additives of that kind

Do you long for that day
when the butcher cuts
that extra piece of meat
that's driving you nuts?

A cutting block and cleaver
is all she will need
now to stop this griever
from feelings past
memory not freed
all the love had its time
this cut cannot last

Enjoy it fondly
for a short while longer
the boy is healthy
and you come out stronger
meat and metal collide
customers satisfied.
