Little Darling Arrives

Swift winged time,
Slowed down to stillness
As I dragged on burdensome
With all kindred drawn together
The Age - long hours stirring too reluctantly
Along with rumors, shriekings
Heavily scented rooms and piercing shrills
Sharpening senses weighted down
To a focus unforgiving, too hard to bear
At last came the long-awaited announcement
Of my grand-daughter's blithesome birth
The baby was brought in swaddling - clothes
Just a glimpse: tides of joy broke into words
I wondered what message the baby had brought:
Perhaps one of hope and adventure,
For, verily, a rose bloomed on her cheeks
She had just entered the intriguing stage
As I was about to leave it altogether
